Waking Up - Another Day in Abyssclan

Shadowstar yawned widely and stretched, making his way out of the warrior's den.
"Another day in Abyssclan," he muttered. There was only so much a kitty-pet made clan could do on days like these, even if he was the leader.

A shy mew came from the shadows, "Master? I have arrived to serve..." Hopeless appeared, her dark pelt illuminated by the rising sun.

Shadowstar stood and shook the leaves from his pelt.
"Fine," he growled. "Find me some prey, then clean my nest. Afterwards, you'll go back to the Servant's Den until I call you."


Viletongue slunk out of the Warrior's Den (the warriors den is large and luxurious), shaking the leaves from his own pelt and absentmindedly grooming himself.

"Viletongue," Shadowstar called to him.

The black-furred tom looked up at his (small) leader then quickly padded over to him. "Shadowstar," Viletongue laid back his ears and dipped his head in respect. Though he had a foul-mouth, even Viletongue knew not to insult his leader.
"What would you have me do?"

Shadowstar glared at the warrior. "For one, you can stop brown-nosing like some forest warrior," he snarled. "I know you better than any other.

Viletongue nodded, somewhat shamed by is leader's words.

Shadowstar leaned in to whisper into the warrior's ear so his servant wouldn't overhear.

Hopeless had dipped her head to her Master then went to work. This was her life, and it always would be.

Sinface sauntered out of the Warrior's Den, his blue eyes gleaming in the morning light.
Seeing his leader, he laid back his ears and dipped his head low to the ground.

Viletongue pulled back from his leader, surprised at what he had been told. "So that's why Cunningheart and the others left so early... Mousedung!"

Shadowstar rolled his eyes. This was why he didn't tell Viletongue what was up until now.
"Yes, they should be returning soon."
Shadowstar's gaze went to Sinface, the only other blue-eyes tom in Abyssclan. Shadowstar had admired his strength and malice, and in turn, made him a warrior.
He nodded slightly at the warrior, a response to Sinface's bow.

Sinface turned away from his leader, glaring towards the Protector's den - his father was the Protector, and also the one who gave Sinface his scars.

Woebringer strutted out of the Protector's den, his head and tail held high - he stopped mid-stride when he saw his leader, approached him, and bowed low at Shadowstar's paws.
"My liege."
Woebringer's eyes darted to look across the clearing at Sinface.
Filthy little blue eyes...

Hopeless shuffled past the warrior, protector, and leader, carrying dirty bedding far out of camp.

Shadowstar looked from Sinface to Woebringer, the fur on his shoulders bristling, but he made no move to intervene.

Viletongue was still growling in frustration at being left behind, looked after Hopeless as she left the camp.

Shadowstar, who was pretending that he hadn't noticed, said in an almost absent minded way to the warrior,
"Get out of my sight, warrior. Go hunt or something."

Viletongue dipped his head and departed, leaving the camp quickly.

Shadowstar stayed where he was watching Sinface and Woebringer. What would happen next?

Searingeyes, a sleek dark brown Powerful, slunk into the Abyssclan camp, his tail twitching in irritation as he padded up to Shadowstar. He nodded in greeting to his leader - since Searingeyes was a Powerful he was considered to be on almost the same level as -
"Shadowstar."

Shadowstar, not looking away from the Protector and Warrior, flicked his ears to indicate that he was aware of the Powerful's presence.
"How did it go," he asked in his eerie, cool, high-pitched voice.

Woebringer spat at the blue-eyed warrior and shoved him out of his way and went to the low-stocked fresh kill pile, taking a thin rabbit from it.

Searineyes sidled up to his leader and whispered,
"Very well... the cats of old were not expecting such an attack..."

Shadowstar snickered softly at what happened between Woebringer and Sinface then finally looked at Searingeyes with a nod.
"Exssssellent... What of the rest of the patrol? Where are they?" He spoke the last the line firmly.

"Last I saw they were checking the border..." A look a dismay flickered across the tom's face.
"They should have been back by now..."
There was a flash of lightening.

Bloodclaw burst into the camp with a shaky battle cry, calling to all, "Fear, Foes, Fight! Fear, Foes, Fight!"

Shadowstar stalked up to him, snarling, "Where?"

Bloodclaw bowed to his leader as he said, "On the border: a medicine cat and a warrior breached the border, now the leader of Tawnyclan and other warriors are there: they threaten the warriors of Abyssclan with their teeth and paws."

Shadowstar nodded.
"Warriors!" he yowled to the few that were there. "To me! To the south border!" He ran out of the clearing, Bloodclaw hot on his heels.

Sinface, forgetting his spat with Woebringer, took off after his leader.

Searingeyes followed swiftly.

Woebringer, being the Protector of Abyssclan, had to stay behind to mind the camp, to make sure none attempted to invade from here. He watched Sinface leave in contempt, then went back to his meal.
