The summer lull.
It is the number one most terrifying and depressing thing any well-meaning Warriors RPG admin can experience.
Let me pose a scenario to you:
You're role playing with your other members. It's all going well, things are really moving along, no one here is a newbie. This goes on for weeks. You're all reliable RPers.
Then, all of the sudden, hardly anyone comes online for a day! Then the next day! Then the NEXT day! Then this goes on for THREE. LONG. MONTHS.
This is the summer lull.
"But Longstorm," you may be saying, "why is this happening? I don't understand! They all seemed to like my website so much!"
Shh, shh, shh...
Don't worry, they STILL like your website. It's just that something else a little more adventurous has caught their eyes.
You guessed it:
SUMMER.
See, we RPGs are what our target demographic (meaning the age group we usually play with, that typically being ages 12 and up) does when they have nothing better to do; or, what they would rather be doing instead of, oh, I don't know, HOMEWORK.
Yes, fellow admins and role players. It's true. We're encouraging procrastination simply by existing.
But hey! Don't worry. Look at this as an opportunity to sit back and allow your website to mull along for a few days at a time without you.
This is your vacation, the time you can sit back and just let your mind wander.
You can ask yourself the following questions:
What do I want to do with my summer?
Do I really like RPing/being an Admin?
Should I keep RPing?
Is there something else I should be doing?
Of course, if you come to the conclusion that you, in fact, do not care for administrating as much as you thought, don't just vanish from the face of the internet.
Please. Don't.
It's like when you're going to be gone for any span of time: You tell your members. You tell them when you're going, and when you'll be back. It's the responsible thing to do.
I know - your members will be hurt that you're going. Think of it this way; which will hurt them the most? You vanishing, or you saying goodbye and choosing a new admin?
I guess what you really have to ask yourself is, what would a leader of ThunderClan do?
To finish up: Don't worry, summer doesn't last forever. And, sometimes sadly, the appeal that is administrating either.
(Don't worry - I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE. Geez.)
