CLOSED Waiting on the Patrol

Soulvoider, a large black tom with deep golden eyes sat atop an old tree stump, looking to the South. His Servant, Luckless, was standing (as Soulvoider's instructions) at the base of the stump, looking South as well.
Where is that patrol, he wondered impatiently.

OOC:Who are you raiding?

OOC: The 'border patrol' is a raiding patrol.

IC: Luckless shivered as the cool Leaf fall wind penetrated her still-growing leaf-bare coat. Hopefully, the patrol would appear soon.

Shade ran next to the band of young kits. It had been a while, but they had put the Two-leg Place behind them. Amazingly, the Servants had all survived.
"Soulvoider!" Shade called into the forest as he lead the kits into Abyssclan territory.

Soulvoider's ears pricked up at the sound of is name.
"Shade," he whispered to himself. He looked down at his Servant and mewed, "Go out to meet him. Bring him and whoever is with him back here. If there is something amiss, you know what to do."

Luckless bowed low. She ran, her limbs a little stiff from standing still for so long.
After running a distance, gasping, she came across the dark gray Choosing.
"Choosing," she greeted him by dipping her head. Not looking at him she mewed in a low, submissive voice, "I have been instructed by my Master to bring you and you Company to Him." She stayed low to the ground, waiting for Shade's response.

Shade glanced back at the kits; they had begin to shiver.
He looked down at Luckless and meowed, "Lead the way."

Luckless dipped her head then stood, keeping her head low to the ground, leading the way back to Soulvoider.

Shade looked again at the kits behind him and followed Luckless.

Meanwhile, a Distance Away...

Despairingcall now lead the pack of Abyssclanners back through Abyssclan territory. The faint sound of cats fighting could only be heard in the brief moments where the forest was completely silent.
We don't care, Despairingcall thought. Whoever they are, they are not Abyssclan.
Despairingcall picked up on Shade's scent.
"This way," he mewed gruffly to the rest of the patrol.

Cunningheart and Searingeyes brought up the rear, looking from side to side (Searingeyes looking through the foilage to make sure that no one was following).
Cunningheart's were pricked up, listening for any intruders.

Luckless's head dropped even lower as she and the Choosing's patrol came upon him. She came to stop in front of the stump he stood upon and bowed as low as she possibly could without laying down, the other Servants doing the same.
"Master."

Meanwhile...

Snarlgag was glad that he didn't have to be back at the end of the line, but at the same time he was infuriated that he wasn't; it was an enormous sign of trust - and treachery - to be placed at the back of the line.
Razorclaw, though he didn't know what the warrior next to him was thinking, felt the same.

Searingeyes paused mid-step when he saw something move at the corner of his eye. He fixed his golden gaze on a far bush - it was just a bird.
He let out a huge sigh of relief. The encounter with the League had set him on edge.
It would be a while before they reached the middle of the territory.

Loveless and Graceless followed suit and bowed low like Luckless.

Soulvoider nodded ever so slightly to Shade and leaped down from the tree stump.
"Shade: where is the rest of the patrol?"

Shade bowed slightly to the Powerful, as he straightened out he mewed,
"They were stopped by a strange group of cats... They called themselves the 'League'." The Choosing looked back at the kits, they who had begun to shiver.
"Soulvoider," Shade began and dipped his head as he said the Powerful's name.
"I was sent with the instruction that as soon as I found you, we would return to the Abyssclan camp."

Meanwhile...

Despairingcall was still leading the front of the group. They most likely wouldn't run into Soulvoider or Shade for that matter - this patrol was taking the long way around to check the borders.
Despairingcall sniffed the markers and nodded to the others. They would be home later than the Choosing and the kits.

Cunningheart ran past Despairingcall to check the further border markers and called back, "None here have been crossed!"

Searingeyes looked at everyone in front of him then to the darkening sky above.. they had been away for a while...
The dark brown tom slowly took a few steps back, turned around, and ran stealthily into the dark forest.

Snarlgag and Raxorclaw growled at each other as they ran ahead to check to other markers.

Meanwhile...

Luckless shifted in place to keep the tiny coal-colored kit in her jaws, she watching Shade from under her eyelashes.

Soulvoider regarded the the Choosing for a few moments then nodded.
"Follow me."
He spun around and leaped through the brush, Luckless hard on his heels.

Meanwhile...

Razorclaw stiffened at a new scent.
"Tawnyclan!" he hissed to Cunningheart.

Cunningheart looked away from where Searingeyes had gone to and at the cruel warrior. She smelled the air heavily, her eyes turning to slits.
"This way!" she snarled to him, and took off.

(Let's move this border party to a new thread)

IC: Snarlgag watched the two warriors run off, but said nothing. He was malicious, and would stay that way.

Shade dipped his head to the Powerful and followed, looking back now and then at the kits and Servants to make sure that they were following.

After a time of walking, Soulvoider paused mid-step, listening.
Sounds of... a fight?
"I'll flay your hide!!!"
Soulvoider snickered softly, then looked back at SHade, gesturing for him to continue following as Soulvoider picked up the pace.
"We'll be there soon," he said, looking up at a flash of lightening. The wind was picking up steadily. They had to get these kits back soon.

Loveless and Graceless exchanged a look, the kits in their jaws shivering.

Shade almost jumped when the flash of lightening coincided with the eerie call from deep in forest.
He looked back at all of the kits. They were limping, shivering from the cold. How soon was soon?

Not far off, loud shrieks could be heard. It was Abyssclan code for, "Enemies on the border!!! Reinforcements needed!!!"

Soulvoider listened then nodded, spun to Shade and said, "Take theses kits to Abyssclan camp. Luckless! With me!" Soulvoider took off at break-neck speed, his Servant running to keep up.


Loveless and Graceless watched as the Powerful and fellow servant vanished from view, then looked to the kit Luckless had dropped. Who would carry it now?
